Jeanne E. Harris Chrysalis Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Association for Women Geoscientists
Overview
The Jeanne E. Harris Chrysalis Scholarship offers financial support to women graduate students in the geosciences who have experienced a substantial interruption in their graduate studies. The award is meant to help candidates who are in the final phase of completing a thesis or dissertation but have been delayed in finishing their writing or defense because of life circumstances.
Purpose and Eligible Uses
Funds are intended to cover expenses that are typically not paid by primary research grants. Examples of eligible uses include costs associated with preparing a thesis/dissertation, travel to defend the thesis/dissertation, required tuition during the final stage of degree completion, and dependent care. The scholarship is not intended to fund primary research or conference attendance. (Applicants seeking research support or conference travel may consider other opportunities such as research grants from the Geological Society of America, the AWG Takken and Sand Research Presentation Travel Awards, or AGU Austin Student Travel Grants.)
