Topeka Community Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Topeka Community Foundation
Since 1983 the Topeka Community Foundation has partnered with donors and other supporters to enhance the quality of life in our area, operating on the belief that thoughtful charitable giving drives positive change. Today the Foundation stewards nearly 400 charitable funds established by individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Collectively, these funds reflect everyday people making remarkable commitments to our community.
A few practical tips to help your scholarship application stand out:
- Spend time on your essays. Scholarships that ask for a written response often attract fewer applicants, which can increase your chances of being selected.
- Watch out for scams. Be skeptical of websites that charge to search scholarship databases or require a fee to register—many free services list the same opportunities.
- Don’t use paid essay-writing services. Essays prepared by commercial services can create a noticeable mismatch between application materials and your own work, lowering your chances and preventing scholarship decision-makers from seeing the real you.
- Do have someone else review your materials. Ask a teacher or a friend to proofread your essay and application to catch errors you might miss.
- Talk with your guidance counselor about scholarships offered through your school that you may qualify for.
- Follow directions exactly and include all required components (for example, letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc.).
- Keep organized and track deadlines for every scholarship you apply to.
