Luther H. Butler Scholarship for NC Baptist Students

Introduction
This scholarship is intended to help students who meet the listed qualifications and are enrolling full time at one of the designated North Carolina colleges. Read all eligibility rules, submission requirements, and deadlines carefully before applying.

Eligibility
To qualify you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized resident.
- Have lived in North Carolina for at least one year prior to the date you apply.
- Have been accepted for full-time study in a degree program at one of these institutions: Campbell University, Chowan University, Gardner-Webb University, Mars Hill University, Meredith College, or Wingate University. (“Full-time” is defined by the school you will attend.)
- Be a member of a church affiliated with Provision and/or the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.
- Demonstrate strong moral character and a commitment to family, church, and community.
- Show consistent academic performance.
- Provide two current letters of reference (not from relatives). One letter must come from your pastor; if your pastor is a relative, submit a pastoral reference from another member of the church’s pastoral staff. All reference letters must include an actual signature and must be uploaded with your online application. Do not mail hard copies.
- Upload a copy of your most recent transcript (an unofficial transcript is acceptable) with the online application.
- Submit your completed application to the Provision Ministry Impact Committee by close of business on May 1. Close of business is defined as 5:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday. If May 1 falls on a weekend, the deadline becomes the following Monday. The specific deadline will also appear in the application section.

Scholarship Terms and Limits
- Awards are made annually and are not automatically renewed. Recipients must reapply each year to be considered.
- Undergraduate students may receive awards for up to four academic years; graduate students may receive awards for up to three academic years.
- The selection committee determines whether awards are made in any given year, which applicants receive funding, and the award amounts based on demonstrated financial need and academic record. The committee may choose to make no awards in a given year.
- Individual awards will range from $500 to $2,500.
- Recipients must be enrolled full time in a degree program at the time the scholarship is applied.
- Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient’s school at the start of the semester/term, only after Provision receives written verification of enrollment. Email enrollment verification to scholarships@provision.org. Funds will be disbursed in two installments: half for the fall term and half for the spring term.

Important Notes and Application Procedures
- If you submit an application for the Butler Scholarship, you may not simultaneously apply for the Watson, Clary, Bullard, or Thomas scholarships. The committee will only consider the first application received; any subsequent submissions will be ignored.
- Avoid uploading attachments as cloud-storage links (for example, links to Google Drive or OneDrive). Attach the actual files to your application; cloud links may be inaccessible to the committee.
- Direct questions about the scholarship to scholarships@provision.org.
- After you submit your online application you will be directed to an acknowledgment page that reads “Thank you for the scholarship application submission…”. You will also receive an email confirmation. Print and retain the confirmation email as proof of submission. If you do not see the acknowledgment page or receive an email, your application likely was not received—contact scholarships@provision.org immediately.
- The online application opens each year on January 1 and closes at close of business on May 1 (5:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday; 12:00 p.m. Friday). If May 1 falls on a weekend, the deadline will be the following Monday. The exact deadline will be shown with the application link for that year.
- Award notifications are emailed in late May to the address you provide on the application. Award decisions are based on the information on your application; you must promptly report any changes that could affect your eligibility.
- If awarded, you must accept the scholarship and return enrollment verification by August 1. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the award.

Applying
- By applying you confirm you have read, understand, and meet the eligibility requirements and guidelines for the Luther H. Butler Scholarship. The application will require you to acknowledge this.
- The 2026–2027 application opens January 1, 2026. The application deadline is Friday, May 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
