Emporia Community Foundation Scholarships

The Emporia Community Foundation manages a variety of scholarship funds. While most awards are administered through the individual school districts named in each scholarship’s criteria, the scholarships listed below are open to broader application and their forms are available on this page.
Dr. Brenton Bennett Memorial Scholarship
- Purpose: One-time $1,000 scholarship (non-renewable).
- Eligibility: Available to a graduating high school senior who attends one of the following districts: USD 251 (North Lyon County), USD 252 (Southern Lyon County), USD 253 (Emporia), USD 284 (Chase County), or USD 386 (Madison).
- Field of study: Applicants must be planning to enter dental assisting, dental hygiene, or a pre-dentistry program.
Sam & Pat Wine Scholarship
- Background: Established by Sam and Pat Wine, longtime Greenwood County residents and educators, to help Greenwood County students pursue postsecondary education.
- Award: Up to one $1,000 scholarship (non-renewable). If the selection committee determines two candidates are equally deserving, it may instead grant two $500 scholarships.
- Eligibility: Graduating seniors from USD 386 (Madison–Virgil), USD 389 (Eureka), or USD 390 (Hamilton).
- Requirement: Demonstrated financial need is required for consideration.
