The Sacramento Rainbow Chamber Foundation Scholarship Award is designed to inspire and support LGBTQ+ and allied students from Greater Sacramento in their pursuit of higher education or vocational training.
Who Can Apply:
- Applicants must either live in or be enrolled in a school in any of the following counties: Sacramento, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, San Joaquin, Sierra, Solano, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tuolumne, Yolo, or Yuba.
- Applicants must be registered in a college or an accredited vocational school by August 15th.
Scholarship Details and Terms:
Successful applicants will be informed of their scholarship via letter or phone call at the start of September. The Foundation will distribute a minimum of $10,000 in scholarships, with each scholarship being no less than $1,500 for a college institution. The scholarship will be paid in a single installment, with the payment date communicated at the time of scholarship notification.
By accepting the scholarship, recipients consent to the Foundation publishing their photos, names, goals, and objectives on its website. However, applicants can request confidentiality on their application without it affecting their chances of receiving the award. Those who choose to remain anonymous will not be recognized at award ceremonies and their information will not be displayed on the Foundation's website. The Foundation, however, cannot guarantee confidentiality beyond these measures.
Selection Process
The Rainbow Chamber Foundation Scholarship Committee is responsible for making the final decisions on scholarship awards. The selection of finalists will be based on the following factors:
- Personal life experiences
- Past engagement with the LGBTQ+ community or related activities and issues
- Quality of written communication
